Green Flash

The famous but rarely seen 'green flash' or 'emerald flash' is an optical phenomenon that occurs shortly after sunset or before sunrise. It can be seen from any altitude and at an unobstructed horizon such as over the ocean. It depends on vantage point as to whether or not it is seen as a green ray or a green dot.

Jules Verne described it in 1882 as "a green which no artist could ever obtain on his palette, a green of which neither the varied tints of vegetation nor the shades of the most limpid sea could ever produce the like! If there is a green in Paradise, it cannot be but of this shade, which most surely is the true green of Hope."

Here are some images originating from my mind’s eye.
